I have lived in Taunton since I arrived here from Canada in 1958. It therefore follows that I should know the town and its people well. I entered the world of estate agency in 1986 with an excellent local independent firm Southwoods, who taught me the ropes and sent me off to The College of Estate Management at Reading University where I gained The Certificate in Residential Estate Agency.
Although I have practiced all aspects and disciplines of estate agency, my favourite part of the business has always been knocking on the door of a would-be seller. Who will I meet? How can I help them? What type of place are they selling? What will it be worth? and How quickly can I sell it? This role has taken me over many thousands of doorsteps, meeting even more thousands of clients and resulted in quite a few thousand sales. For a twelve year period from 1996 I practised locally as Chris Willey – The Independent Property Appraiser, specialising in providing sales appraisals and recommending suitable agents to see the job through. In 2008, my wife Julia and I seeking a challenge together, found ideally placed premises in Magdalene Lane where, together with my son Michael, we set up the firm we still own – Wilsons, a derivative of Willey & Son.
Now the firm is up, running and standing on its own two feet, I’ve returned to my passion of specialising in the provision of sales appraisals. Selling a house today has never been more confusing, presenting sellers with so many dilemmas. What is my house worth? Will an agent over value or under value it? How much will it cost? Should I consider paying up front for an ‘On line’ agent? How long will it take? Should I sell first then buy or wait until I find what I’m looking for? How can I improve and best present my house to achieve the best price?

I can help buyers as well as sellers
Although my service is primarily offered to sellers, I welcome enquiries from buyers too. ‘Dream homes’ are few and far between but there really are places out there which will tick most buyers boxes – it’s just finding it and striking the deal before the other guy!
I can advise buyers who may like to call me on the best way to go about their search and how to position themselves to get to the front of the queue.
